Mr. Bennett Scholl

Ben Scholl of Montague (husband of Pat), age 90, passed away at home on his farm March 7, 2013 after a long 10-year illness with shingles and just worn out.

Ben was born June 18, 1922 to Warren and Pearl Scholl. April 26, 1947, he married the former Pat Drazil from Riverside, Ill who survives him along with 1 son, Stuart Bennett Scholl; 2 daughters, Sherry (Ken) Hiser and Becky (Gregg) Stauffer.

Everyone loved Benny, including his grandchildren, Dulcey and Dean French, Linsey Stauffer, Tristan B. Scholl; great-grandchildren, Brittny French and Kyle French Morningstar; his loving sister, Vivian; many nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Angie Smith.

Ben was an exceptional man, a true friend to all who knew him. He was an auctioneer for 40 years, having attended Reppert School of Auctioneering in 1948. His clever wit and sense of humor will be missed.

He was happiest farming his land, having horses and driving his best draft horse team Jim, Jay and Jerry. He loved his Plow Days, auctioning, dance parties, calling square dances, sleight rides, and farming with companion wife for 66 years.

Ben was a WWII Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific on the heavy destroyer, USS Ingraham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Victor, Vern (Crezens) and Earl.

Cremation has taken place. A casual remembrance open house to honor Ben’s life will be held on Sunday, March 17th, at the White Lake VFW Post 3256 Hall, 9370 Walsh Rd., Montague, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Mr. James Tanis will officiate a short service at 3:00 p.m., followed by shared remarks, friendship and luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Harbor Hospice, with a thank you for all their help.
