White Lake Wine & Jazz Fest set to replace Maritime Fest

After a survey done by community members that resulted in a low score for the Maritime Festival, the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has decided to replace it with a Wine and Jazz Festival, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3.

The White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will no longer hold the Maritime Festival. Instead it will be replaced with a Wine and Jazz Festival.

“This historically had been a solid event for our community. However, during the past several years, the attendance and revenues declined significantly while expenses steadily increased,” said Amy VanLoon, executive director of the Chamber.

An event survey was conducted last year, and the community rated the Maritime Festival very low, said VanLoon.

“The chamber and the other organizations involved plan to incorporate some of the more popular Maritime Festival activities into other existing events,” VanLoon said.

The Events Division of the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its inaugural White Lake Wine & Jazz Festival on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Goodrich Park in Whitehall. The event will be from 3-7 p.m. and will feature wine tasting, live jazz, appetizers and desserts, art for sale and a silent auction. Residents and visitors can reach this event by car, boat or by the walking/bike trail that runs alongside Goodrich Park.

Festival proceeds will be used to purchase a large custom highway sign to attract visitors to the White Lake area. Event sponsorships are available, and upscale auction items are welcome.
