MUSKEGON — Reeths-Puffer’s competitive cheer team placed fourth Thursday night at the Mona Shores Jamboree.
Originally scheduled for Wednesday, the jamboree was bumped a day by weather.
The Rockets scored 640.72 points in their three rounds, just missing third-place Muskegon by eight points.
Kenowa Hills won the jamboree with a score of 723.34.
Whitehall 5th at Shelby Invite
SHELBY — The Whitehall cheer team put together a strong performance against a tough field Saturday at the Tiger Invitational at Shelby, earning a fifth-place finish out of seven varsity teams competing.
The Vikings’ score of 497.34 placed them just ahead of the Western Michigan Christian team, which placed sixth.
Whitehall was in fourth after round one, but a low score of 143.04 enabled Grant to leap past the Vikings. Whitehall’s round three was its best score of the day at 191.30, but it couldn’t surpass any of the top four squads.
“The Whitehall Lady Vikes had more confidence and a good showing Saturday,” Whitehall coach Dorianne Kittridge said. “They continue to work hard and are improving.”
R-P 10th, Montague 12th at Allendale Invite
ALLENDALE — The Montague cheer team placed 12th overall out of the 16 teams competing at the Allendale Invitational last Saturday.
The Wildcats put up a solid total score of 585.38 at the meet, falling just shy of 11th-place Kelloggsville.
The Reeths-Puffer Rockets also competed at the meet, placing 10th. The Rockets were just nine points behind eighth-place Fruitport, posting a score of 617.60.
Comstock Park won the meet with a score of 746.10.
