In 2011, Hilite International added a 33,000 square feet to its manufacturing facility in the City of Whitehall’s Industrial Park, and it didn’t take long for another change.

The company added a receiving dock facility on the south side of its plant, facing Delaney Drive. The plant address is 2001 Peach Street.

Tom Buckingham, plant manager, said the new receiving dock will provide a better manufacturing flow and separate the employee parking from the dock area to provide for added safety.

The expansion last year was made to handle new machining operations the company moved from Florida facilities.

The new dock had four overhead doors for receiving and one taller overhead door for bringing in equipment.

The larger paved truck parking area at the dock will also keep trucks waiting to unload off the road.

The general contractor on the job was WinBerg Construction of Montague.

A storm drainage system with bioswales, was a part of the project. The Muskegon Conservation District will extend native landscaping to the new dock area.
