WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP – A 49-year-old Muskegon man was critically injured Monday morning, Nov. 26, in a two-car collision at the intersection of Benston Rd. and Whitehall Rd., according to the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department.
The injured man, John Joseph Szucs, was the driver of a 1995 Plymouth which pulled out from Benston Rd. onto Whitehall Rd. into the path of a 1996 GMC truck driven by Paul Douglas Kitchen of Montague.
The crash occurred at 7 a.m. after Szucs left his job at Alcoa Howmet with three passengers who were hopitalized, but not seriously hurt. Kitchen was not seriously injured.
The accident report said Szucs did not see the truck when he stopped at the stop sign on eastbround Benston. He then pulled out in front of the truck while turning left onto Whitehall Rd. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
