Chamber Music Recital will host Montague grad
 
Montague talent will be coming back to the area to perform at the Fall Chamber Music Recital on Saturday, Nov. 17.

AnnaMarie Schmidt, a 2009 graduate from Montague High School, will join others to perform at the annual fall recital. Schmidt is currently a senior at Central Michigan University where she is in pursuit of a bachelor’s of music in piano performance.

Upon graduation, Schmidt will continue her education with the pursuit of a master’s degree.

She is currently the president of Central Michigan University’s MTNA Collegiate Chapter. Schmidt has had the privilege of presenting at the MMTA State Conference; she was the recipient of the John N. Irwin Memorial Scholarship, has participated in numerous master classes and performances at CMU’s prestigious OPUS events.

According to Sondra Cross, director of the performing arts branch of the Arts Council of White Lake, they wanted to feature a graduate of a local high school who has continued and excelled in their musical studies.

Schmidt will perform Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 14, No. 1- the Allegro, Allegretto, Allegro Comodo; Samuel Barber’s Ballade Op. 46; and Frederic Chopin’s Scherzo No. 1 in b minor Op. 20.

Others participating in the chamber music recital are Randy Turgeon, hornist, and Potpourri, a clarinet quartet.

The recital is free and will be held at the United Methodist Church of Whitehall, 117 Division St. at 1 p.m.
