Montague 2-2-1 at Shelby Invitational
 
SHELBY — Montague had a solid day at last Saturday’s Shelby Invitational. The Wildcats were 0-2-1 in pool play but rebounded to win the silver bracket title.

Montague split matches with Holton and North Muskegon in pool play, also dropping a two-game match to Ludington. That sent the Wildcats to a silver bracket first-round match with Providence Christian. The Cats won that one 28-26, 25-18, to move to the title match.

Montague was pitted against Hart, and for the second time this year the Wildcats defeated Hart in a close one. The final score was 24-26, 25-20, 15-8.

Montague piled up some gaudy individual stats over the course of the five matches. Sarah Harrie and Karlee Koetje were the leading forces at the net for Montague. Harrie had 23 kills and 15 blocks while Koetje had 20 kills and 18 blocks.

On defense, Paige Pineda posted 49 digs, and she also served up six aces.

Autumn Monette had a strong passing day, posting 58 assists and also notching a team-high eight aces from the service line.

Montague sweeps Manistee Tri

MANISTEE — Montague played two close matches Monday at the Manistee Tri, but the Wildcats had enough in the tank to take both matches against Manistee and Hesperia.

Montague beat the Chippewas 26-24, 25-21 and edged the Panthers 25-22, 25-20.

Montague falls to Ravenna

MONTAGUE — Montague dropped a three-game West Michigan Conference match to Ravenna Tuesday night, 25-13, 25-12, 25-16.

Montague’s Autumn Monette posted a team-high 16 assists. Karlee Koetje had four kills and seven blocks, and Sarah Harrie had six kills for the Wildcats.

Whitehall struggles at East Kentwood Invite

KENTWOOD — Whitehall went 1-3 in pool play during last Saturday’s East Kentwood Invitational, facing several bigger schools.

The Vikings defeated Tri-Unity Christian in three games, but fell in two games to West Ottawa and Hndsonville. Whitehall also dropped a three-game match against Forest Hills Central.

Whitehall rolls past Oakridge

WHITEHALL — The Whitehall Vikings kept on rolling through the West Michigan Conference Tuesday evening, dispatching Oakridge in three straight games to remain unbeaten in league play.

Tuesday’s final score was 25-7, 25-10, 25-11.

R-P downed by Knights

MUSKEGON — Reeths-Puffer dropped a three-game match at home Tuesday evening to Kenowa Hills, 25-11, 25-15, 25-18. The Rockets dropped to 5-22-1 overall, 2-4 in O-K Black Conference play with the loss.

R-P drops match to Zeeland East

ZEELAND — It was a rough night Thursday for Reeths-Puffer as the Rockets fell in three games to Zeeland East, 25-7, 25-9, 25-5.
