Blue Lake Fire Department kicks off Fire Prevention Week with open house
  Other departments hold open houses next week
 
The Blue Lake Township Fire Department will have its Fire Prevention Open House on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Blue Lake Fire Station 1, located at 1491 Owasippe Road.

The open house will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. This year’s theme is “Have Two Ways Out.”

There will be many enjoyable and educational activities for both children and adults, including a campfire with the chief and a smoke house that will teach both children and adults how to escape a house that is on fire. Several organizations that the Blue Lake Township Fire Department depends upon for service will be represented.

A vehicle extrication demonstration will be at 7:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served beginning at 6 p.m. Sparky will be making a guest appearance. Many more activities are planned throughout the evening.

Montague Fire Department Open House

Fire prevention week will kick off with the White Lake fire prevention parade on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The parade will start in Whitehall at 6:30 p.m. and travel through downtown to Montague.

The Montague Fire Authority will hold its open house on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 6-8 p.m. at the fire station, 5085 Wilcox St. in Montague.

There will be fire truck rides, apple cider and an obstacle course for any child who wants to participate.

The firefighters will also at Montague Area Public Schools the first two weeks of October for fire prevention training.

White Lake Fire Authority Open House

The White Lake Fire Authority will hold its open house on Thursday, Oct. 11, 6-8 p.m., at Station No. 1, 115 S. Baldwin, Whitehall. There will be fire truck rides, hot dogs, demonstrations, advanced teen driving program and a talk by the fire chief.

Grant Township Fire Department Open House

The open house will be Thursday, Oct. 11 from 6-8 p.m. with fire truck rides from the fire station, 7140 Oceana Dr., Rothbury. At the event, a there will be the Fire Training trailer and the Red Cross. Refreshments of juice, punch and donuts will be served.
