Spring Break fun at the library

Staying in town over the school holiday? Take a break from the video games and head to the library to celebrate National Library Week, National Poetry Month, and more.

Movies, crafts, poetry, and lots of active fun will be on tap all week at the White Lake Community Library. All events are free, and registration is not required. Children of all ages are welcome, but those under six require adult supervision.

For more information, call the library at 894-9531 or visit www.whitelake.llcoop.org.

• Monday, April 7, 10:30 a.m. - Create your own book at this “self-serve” story time. Read from the library’s special collection of story time books, play with flannel board stories, and make a book to keep.

• Tuesday, April 8, 10:30 a.m. - Toddler Time! Babies through 36 months and their caregivers are invited for a brief program of music, movement and stories. Plenty of play time afterwards.

• Wednesday, April 9 - Drop in anytime to create unique pasta pets out of noodles, pipe cleaners and other assorted supplies.

• Thursday, April 10, 6:30 p.m. - “Poetry at Play” family night event. Experience some active poems, play some active games, climb on the mini climbing wall, and try writing a short poem for the library's Poet Tree. Choose a poem for the upcoming “Poem in Your Pocket” Day, too. Some activities will be held outside, weather permitting. Program will be offered again on Saturday at 11 a.m. All ages welcome.

• Friday, April 11 - Movie Day! A film featuring three chipmunks and a man named Dave will be shown at 1:00 p.m., followed by an enchanting movie about fairytale characters wandering around New York City at 3 p.m. Both films are rated PG.

• Saturday, April 12, 11 a.m. - Couldn't make it to the program Thursday night? Come Saturday morning for some active poetry experiences and to add your own poem to the library Poet Tree. Everyone welcome.
