WHITEHALL — The White Lake Golf Club will offer a new program aimed at turning area children on to the game of golf this summer.
The club will participate in PGA Junior League Golf, designed to bring a Little League-style atmosphere to golf. The JLG program’s main feature is a “fun team scramble format for players of every skill level”, according to www.pgajrleaguegolf.com. Each player participates in every competition, maximizing the opportunity for young players to improve and enjoy the game.
Registration will be held this Saturday, Mar. 16, at the Whitehall High School gym. The club will have a booth set up in the gym for prospective players to get more information. Registration is also available online at PGAJrLeagueGolf.com through Mar. 31.
The club does not require any advanced skill level to join, but any player must have access to a set of clubs.
All participants will play in five or six regular season competitions, as well as practice sessions. The best players may even receive advancement to postseason all-star teams. Each player also receives team jerseys, golf balls and bag tags.
The White Lake Club’s version of the league will take place between June 3 and Aug. 19, each Monday from 3 to 5 p.m.
