Joseph R. Douglas

Joseph Reuben Douglas, age 84, drew his last breath here and drew his first breath in heaven on Wednesday February 27, 2013. He was born on June 17, 1928 to Ira and Maudie (Bain) Douglas in Camden , TN. He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Anna (Hornacek) Douglas and his children JoAnn Knack (Ted Niemi) of Renton, WA, Ron (Jan) Douglas of Northeast, MD, Ed (Sue) Douglas of Ft. Meyer, FL, Diane Klinger, Steve (Eve) Douglas and his sisters Elease (Clayton) Johnson and Rhudell Gundy of Muskegon, MI. He was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, George and Willard Douglas

He worked 42 years for Shaw Walker/Knoll but family was his first love followed closely by his love for his beagles. He was a life-long member of Port City Beagle Club and a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church and daily prayer was part of his life.

His children remember his love of the Detroit Tigers, coaching little league, his patience at teaching them how to swing a golf club, whistle, nail a nail, shoot a gun and flush a rabbit. Nature was always a joy to him whether it was gardening, watching the birds or running a beagle. He will be remembered most for how much he loved his family and he was always there for them with a word of advice, an ear to listen or a shoulder to lean upon.

You will be missed but tally ho and we will see you in heaven and we will have a quarter for you.
