Garden shows to help residents become ‘smart gardeners’

Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) horticulture educators are embarking on a new campaign this year to help Michigan residents to become “smart gardeners.”

MSU Extension has a long commitment to connecting gardeners to the latest research that debunks gardening myths and improves gardening techniques. Gardeners hungry for ideas that will enable them to be more environmentally savvy, employ earth-friendly techniques and even save a few bucks can get them through two public gardening shows this winter.

MSU Extension horticulture educators will be presenting smart gardening in a variety of ways at the Novi Cottage and Lakefront Living Show Feb. 21-24 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi and the West Michigan Home and Garden Show Feb. 28-March 3 at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids. These garden shows will host a variety of free seminars and informational booths and provide the chance to ask the experts from MSU Extension about your gardening questions.

Smart gardening education will continue all year long with informational factsheets, videos and more on the Gardening in Michigan website.
