MUSKEGON — The Reeths-Puffer Rockets continued their trend of overwhelming opponents with offense Wednesday night, winning their seventh straight game to open the season by beating Northview’s co-op team 7-2.
Northview’s team also includes players from Sparta and Comstock Park.
R-P again displayed remarkably balanced scoring, with six different players scoring goals and another four adding assists.
The Rockets jumped ahead with two first-period goals and didn’t let the Wildcats back in the game.
Scoring goals for R-P were Dean Griffin, Alex Lewandoski, Brandon Young, Derreck Plenning, Alex Dinger and Colt Shaffer. Shaffer scored twice and also had an assist.
Assists also came from Lewandoski, Young, Plenning, Cody Vanderstelt, Nate Cregg, Rogan McEvoy and Curtis Pek.
Rockets rout Lowell 6-1
WATERFORD TWP. — Reeths-Puffer jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and cruised from there, defeating Lowell’s co-op team 6-1. Lowell’s co-op squad also includes Caledonia and Grand Rapids South Christian.
Alex Dinger scored the first two goals of the game, notching a hat trick. Teammate Alex Lewandski assisted on both of the first two goals and recorded three assists overall. Kyle Kendra had two assists.
Stephen Pallante, Casey Trautner and Josh Smith each scored goals. Trautner also had two assists.
R-P blasts Kettering 9-1
WATERFORD TWP. — Reeths-Puffer’s impressive season continued last Friday night as the Rockets rolled by Kettering 9-1.
The Rockets moved to 5-0 with the victory.
R-P scored all nine of its goals in the final two periods to break open a scoreless game. Nine different Rockets pocketed goals and 10 different players recorded assists.
Two-point games come from the sticks of Andy DeYoung, Jeremy Joyce, Kyle Kendra, Josh Smith and Derrick Plemling. Plemling had two assists while the others each scored a goal and had an assist.
Brandon Young, Dean Griffin, Brenden Alderink and Curtis Pek each scored once. Nate Cregg, Casey Trautner, Cody Vanderstelt, Zach Gaule and Tom Monroe each had an assist.
Jared Erickson played goalie for the Rockets and faced only seven shots on goal, stopping six.
