MUSKEGON – State Representative-Elect Collene Lamonte (D-Montague), who will represent the 91st district of the Michigan House of Representatives, was sworn into office last Monday in Muskegon. Lamonte will take office on Jan. 1, 2013.

“It is an honor and great responsibility to be chosen as the voice for the people of the 91st district,” Lamonte said. “I know our middle-class families are struggling and that they want an ally in the Legislature. I pledge to work hard on their behalf by working to strengthen our public education system, restore fairness to our tax code and create an environment where small businesses can thrive.”

Muskegon Circuit Court Judge, the Hon. William C. Marietti, administered the oath of office to Lamonte at a ceremony held at the Muskegon High School auditorium. Lamonte was joined at the swearing in by family and friends.

“I look forward to going to work in Lansing, but the people of my district should know I will never be out of reach,” Lamonte said. “I look forward to listening to the people of the 91st district talk about their concerns and suggestions, and my door will always be open to them.”
