ELK RAPIDS – In a run to the soccer state finals there are lucky bounces, and Friday night in a Division 3 regional final they went to host Elk Rapids in a shoot out win over Whitehall.

“This time we didn’t get them,” Whitehall Coach Bryan Mahan talked about the breaks that make a difference in a game between two evenly matched teams.

The two teams played to a 0-0 score in regulation.

Tawas Area in regional semis

ELK RAPIDS — The Vikings have ridden their defense all year, and Tuesday’s Elk Rapids regional semifinal victory over Tawas Area showed that Whitehall has not broken down yet in that department.

Whitehall edged the Braves 1-0 in the semifinal, advancing to Friday’s final against the host Elks.

Whitehall wins district title

MONTAGUE — Whitehall took home its third straight district soccer title Saturday afternoon, defeating Ludington 2-0 in the final game at Montague.

The Vikings had several chances to score in the game that went uncompleted, but fate intervened to help deliver Whitehall its two goals.
