Muskegon Opportunity is hosting a free financial aid workshop from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the 1200 complex at the Stevenson Center for Higher Education on the Muskegon Community College campus, 221 S. Quarterline Road.
Muskegon Opportunity has partnered with representatives from Western Michigan University and the Community Foundation for Muskegon County to bring students, their parents/guardians or mentors and their families information about financial aid and the many ways to pay for college.
Workshop participants will learn about the many forms of financial aid available to students and their families, including loans, grants and scholarships. They also will learn why the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an important first step toward post-secondary education and will search for other forms of financial aid, including scholarships, in the Michigan College Access Portal.
Muskegon Opportunity invites local high-school juniors and seniors and their families who might be interested in learning more about preparing for post-secondary education.
Muskegon Opportunity, in conjunction with Muskegon Community College and Baker College, also is offering similar, adult-specific information—in a separate session—to adults who might be interested in going back to school after some time away or in going to college for the first time.
Attendees should RSVP by Monday, Feb. 13, at www.muskegonopportunity.com/mo/contact.php or (231) 766-3001.
