  Montague juniors dominate
 
SCOTTVILLE — A pair of Montague Wildcat juniors, 6-foot-3 Brandon Moore and 6-foot-4 Chase Casebolt, combined for 51 points Friday to lead their team to a hard-fought 67-55 West Michigan Conference victory over the Mason County Central Spartans.

Moore poured in 31 points, including six 3-pointers, while Casebolt tossed in 20 points.

With the loss, the young Spartans went to 2-6 on the season and to 2-4 in the conference. Montague upped its overall mark to 6-3 and their league record to 5-2.

Moore paced the Wildcats with 15 points and numerous blocked shots.

Kelley and Ambrose both finished with 16 points for the Spartans. Kelley added nine rebounds and Ambrose had four assists.

For the Wildcats, Moore and 6-foot-4 senior Alex Martin each grabbed eight rebounds. Casebolt notched seven boards.

Montague 67: C. Lohman 1 1-2 3, R. Lohman 1 0-1 2, Moore 12 1-4 31, Stine 2 0-0 5, Martin 3 0-0 6, Marsh 0 0-1 0, Casebolt 7 4-5 20. Totals 26 6-13 67.

MCC 55: Ambrose 6 3-4 16, Barnett 1 0-0 2, Cox 3 3-4 9, Ritzema 0 2-2 2, Schanhals 0 4-6 5, LaVigne 3 0-0 6, Kelley 6 3-3 16. Totals 19 15-19 55.

3-point goals—Moore 6, Stine, Casebolt 2, Ambrose, Kelley. Total fouls—Montague 17, Central 16. Fouled out—Schanhals. Technical fouls—none.
