 Mr. Laurence C. "Larry" Barry
Mr. Barry, of Whitehall, was born in Detroit on March 24, 1926. He died December 24, 2009, at age 83. Following graduation from high school in 1944, he enlisted in the Navy V-12 College Training Program, through which he attended Western Michigan University and Northwestern University. He was discharged in June, 1946. Larry married Mary Meneghini in September 1946. He attended Ohio State University under the G.I. Bill and graduated in June 1950. Larry's 35 years experience in personnel/industrial relations culminated in the post of Corporate Vice-President of Industrial Relations at Learjet Corporation in Wichita, Kansas, where he recorded 10 years of labor relations without a strike or grievance. Larry married Katherine Clark RN in November, 1981. He retired from American Coil Spring Company of Muskegon in 1988 as Director of Employee Relations. Larry was pre-deceased by his first wife Mary, who died in August, 1981, and Katherine, who died in February, 2004. He is survived by his six sons: Craig (Judy) of CA, David (Rita) of Muskegon, Thomas, Steven and James (Diane), all of CA, and Ronald (Emma) of FL, and three step-children, Greg Clark, Lisa (Tom) Metzdorf and Jeff Clark, all of Muskegon. He is also survived by his brother, Patrick (Dolores) Barry of SC and a sister, Kathleen (Gene) Persinger of OH; 21 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Larry has been cremated in accordance with his wishes. Private services have been held.
