As part of its Early Bird Educational Series, the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Practical Approaches to Greening Company Profits, a seminar for local businesses interested in exploring green business practices.
It will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The seminar will be at the White Lake Community Library, 3900 White Lake Drive, in Whitehall.
Amy Van Loon, executive director of the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to be able to sponsor the seminar. “We are excited to offer a green business seminar for our local companies. Practicing sustainability and utilizing green principles is important to maintaining our area’s recreational assets and special quality of life.”
Presenter of the seminar will be William A. Stough, chief executive officer of Sustainable Research Group in Grand Rapids. Stough has over 25 years of experience in providing technical assistance for environmentally sustainable business initiatives. According to Stough, “Companies can realize significant benefits by implementing sustainable business practices in company operations, including reducing costs, increasing sales, increased employee retention and attraction, and improved investment opportunities.”
The seminar will identify a path for companies to develop a green business strategy aimed at successfully competing in a global market challenged in the coming years by environmental and social pressures that have never been faced by small- and mid-sized manufacturers.
There is no cost for the seminar, but registration is required by email at info@whitelake.org or by calling the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at (231) 893-4585.
