WHITEHALL — 13-year-old Taylor Mikkelson won the White Lake area free-throw championship Thursday night, Jan. 31 at the White Lake Community Services Building.
Mikkelson has won three state titles in the free-throw competition and remained in the running for a fourth with her victory.
Other winners in the girls’ competition included: Claire Meacham, age 9; Taylor Rachel Netcott, age 10; Lauren Seaver, age 11; Brianna Copley, age 12; and Zoey Snay, age 14.
Boys’ winners were: Tate Stine, age 9; Ty Swihart, age 10; Seth Bayle, age 11; Ethan Schaeffer, age 12; Logan Diehm, age 13; and Andrew Esh, age 14.
Over 100 children competed at the event, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Al Kaulius runs the area free-throw contest.
The district competition was held at Fremont Saturday, after the Beacon went to press.
