R-P scored the first four goals of the game and were never threatened, as goalie Aaron Andrews only had to face nine shots, saving eight.

Derreck Pleimling dominated offensively, scoring a hat trick easily. His third goal came less than a minute into the final period.

Alex Lewandoski added two goals, and Cody Vanderstelt, Tommy Munroe, Dean Griffin and Stephen Pallante had one each.

Josh Smith had a huge day setting up his teammates, posting four assists. Casey Trautner, Brandon Young and Colt Shaffer all added two assists apiece.

R-P edges Forest Hills Central

GRAND RAPIDS — The Reeths-Puffer Rockets got back on the winning track Saturday afternoon, taking a 6-4 victory over Forest Hills Central to improve to 15-0-1 on the season.

R-P bounced back from its first tie of the year by scoring three third-period goals to secure the win.

Casey Trautner, Alex Dinger and Brandon Young notched the goals in the final frame to give R-P control of the game.

Josh Smith scored two goals for the Rockets, and Brenden Alderink had the other tally. Alderink also recorded three assists.

Jeremy Joyce had two assists for the potent R-P offense, and Trautner also recorded an assist to go with his goal.

Rockets tie Grandville 5-5

MUSKEGON — The Reeths-Puffer Rockets’ perfect start to the season took a small hit last Friday night, as R-P blew a three-goal lead in the third period to fall into a tie with Grandville, 5-5.

The Rockets remained undefeated with the tie, but the game was their first of the year which they didn’t win.

R-P grabbed control of the game early, scoring the first three goals of the game, including one within the first minute. The Bulldogs battled back late, scoring their final two goals within 92 seconds to tie things up late in the third period. The tying goal came with just 38 seconds left in the third period, before a scoreless overtime resulted in a tie.

The Rockets had five different players score goals, with Kyle Kendra, Derreck Pleimling, Alex Dinger, Josh Smith and Dean Griffin recording tallies. Brandon Young and Jeremy Joyce had two assists each, and Smith and Pleimling also had assists for the Rockets.
