Max and Miles Gable relax in the NICU at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital while their parents Kim and Greg Gable hold a sign thanking all those who have supported them.

The American Legion Algot Johnson Post 69 in Whitehall was packed last Saturday night with people coming to support a local family.

Kim and Greg Gable, of Muskegon, found out they were expecting twins last summer, but unfortunately, Kim went into early labor at 26 weeks.

Kim had twins Max and Miles three months early in October. They have been at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids since then with multiple health complications.

A spaghetti dinner was held, as well as silent and live auctions. Many different items were in the auction, including a kayak, multiple gift certificates and even a German Shepherd puppy, among other things. Entertainment by “All Jak’d Up and Friends” ended the night.

They planned food for 400 people, and had around that many attend and raised just under $10,000, which according to Kim is double what they expected.

Greg is employed at Plant 5 TiCast at Alcoa Howmet.

Donations are still being accepted at Fifth Third Bank, 211 S. Mears Ave. in Whitehall, with checks made out to Kim or Greg Gable.
