Posted: 1-21-2013 Getting jazzed up for the new White Lake Chorale season |
| |
Chorale members are enthusiastic about their upcoming concert - a delightful musical event with a hint of jazz, Gershwin and Manhattan Transfer favorites, American folk treasures and Peaceable Kingdom selections by Thompson and more.
The Chorale invites interested singers to join them for this new musical season starting on Monday, Jan 28, at 6 p.m. with a warm welcome potluck with members old and new. The rehearsal that evening begins at 7 p.m. in preparation for the spring concert scheduled on Saturday, April 27, at the Montague High School Center for the Arts.
The Chorale is a growing volunteer adult choir dedicated to the performance of a variety of fine choral music. The organization welcomes singers with a broad range of musical abilities and experience. Requirements are a desire to sing, a willingness to practice and a sincere effort to attend weekly rehearsals. Everyone is asked to pay a fee of $25 for their music, cash or check only, with payment plans available. No one is refused for an inability to pay.
The group welcomes Vince Browand as director for this season. Browand is known locally as the Whitehall Band and Community Band director but brings with him a variety of experience working in vocal music, the dramatic arts as well as a great deal of enthusiasm. He is excited about the opportunity to direct a group he has been a fan of for many years.
Rehearsals are hosted by Lebanon Lutheran Church, 1101 S. Mears Ave. in Whitehall every Monday evening through April from 7-9 p.m. Prospective new members can email info@whitelakechorale.com or call the Lebanon office at 231-893-5745 for more information.
