Whitehall couple, Dan and Jen Hain, has plans to turn the long unoccupied State Bank Building in downtown Whitehall into something of the beer lover’s destination.

The Hains are working toward opening a craft brewery, Fetch Brewing Company, in this well known location. The vacant State Bank building is a cornerstone of downtown Whitehall and still maintains its original grandeur from when it was built in 1912. The Hains feel they have an obligation to the community to maintain the dignity of this prominent landmark while building Fetch Brewing Company.

When looking to make Fetch Brewing Company a reality, Dan and Jen chose to bring the brewery to Whitehall. With such a large swath of West Michigan’s lakeshore being void of a brewery, they wanted to open a community brewery which would help bridge the gap that currently exists. While the couple has developed their business and marketing plans for the last two years, securing the State Bank location is a more recent advance.

In addition to deciding on a location for the brewery, the Hains also have introduced an investment package to the public, working to secure investment capital to guarantee the opening of the brewery doors in the spring of 2013. Challenging as the current economy is, Dan and Jen are confident they can find enough committed investors to make their small business dream into a tasty reality and find enough local customers to keep the facility up and running for the foreseeable future.

Dan Hain has been brewing his own beer for over 18 years. A native of Montague, Dan is going to be in charge of developing beers and the overall brewery operation, and plans to work at the brewery full time. He has a degree in Natural Resources Management and has built his career thus far working in the chemical industry. His background in laboratory work has allowed him the opportunity to become well versed in analytical detail which is a strong skill to bring to the brewery business.

Jen (Christner) Hain, a native of North Muskegon, has a background in personal banking. She will be taking care of the business end of the brewery. From human resources to marketing and finances, Jen plans to keep her day job in the banking industry and work on the brewery business on evenings and weekends.

More information and updates about the brewery will be posted at fetchbrewing.com. To find out more about investing in this local business contact Dan Hain at dan@fetchbrewing.com.
