Reeths-Puffer High School choir featured at Collegiate A capella Festival

College a capella groups will be at the Allendale High School Ceglarek Fine Arts Center on Saturday, Jan. 12 competing in the 3rd annual Acapell-Off!

Participating groups are scheduled to be from Western Michigan University, Central Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Michigan State University, Kalamazoo College and Albion College. The Reeths-Puffer High School Madrigals are the special guests this year.

A capella music has had a resurgence because of the television show The Sing-Off as well as through recent movies. The groups arrange their music and choreography and all the music is done vocally. Vocal percussion, sometimes known as “beat boxing” is used throughout the performances.

The show starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12. Tickets are available at the door. Tickets for adults are $10, and $5 for students with an ID. Proceeds are split between the Allendale Fine Arts Center and the GVSU Chapter of the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity.

For questions about tickets or directions, please call Kathy Anderson at 616-892-5593.
