Montague’s Kieft earns academic recognition

Montague’s Kristopher Kieft achieved academic recognition this football season when he was named second team academic all-state by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association. Kieft was the only football player in the West Michigan Conference to achieve academic recognition.

Kieft was no slouch on the field either, serving as a key player on the strong Montague defense that helped the Wildcats to the playoffs for the 12th season in a row. Kieft played safety for Montague and recorded 64 tackles, fifth on the team. His best game was a team-leading 12-tackle performance in the Wildcats’ postseason defeat at Hemlock, with all his tackles being of the solo variety.

Kieft also recorded a sack and an interception on the season for Montague, in addition to performing well in the classroom en route to his academic successes.
