HUDSONVILLE — Whitehall edged out Greenville last Saturday for the top honors at the Hudsonville Invitational, scoring 223 points to the Yellow Jackets’ 207.
At least one of the two squads sent a wrestler to each weight-class final except at 215 pounds.
Seven Vikings won their weight classes, with victories coming from Reiley Brown at 103 pounds, Casey Robinson at 119, Zack Cooper at 125, Alex Whitener at 130, Steven Sika at 160, Joe Sika at 171 and Logan Morningstar at heavyweight.
Logan Irey at 112, Derek Hoffman at 140 and Buck Houts at 152 were runners-up for the Vikings.
Whitehall competed at Saturday’s Goodrich Invitational after the Beacon went to press.
R-P 5th at Chip Hills Invite
REMUS — The Reeths-Puffer Rockets’ wrestling team placed fifth last Saturday out of 19 teams at the Chippewa Hills Invitational.
The Rockets had several notable high finishers, led by Tyler Sternberg, who took first place at 140 pounds. Buck Tottingham at 215 and Matt Hoover at heavyweight each placed second, and J.J. Covington at 125 was third. Jon Woodring was fifth at 145.
