Rita J. Hignutt



Rita Jean Hignutt, age 66 of Whitehall, entered into Heavenly rest on December 23, 2012, from complications of lung cancer. Rita was born on February 13, 1946. She was a 1965 graduate from Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, MI. In 1999, she worked as a Greeter for Meijer in Lansing, MI, until she retired and returned to Whitehall. Rita was a member of the American Legion Algot Johnson Post #69 Auxiliary. She devoted her time to her family, was a self-taught chef and loved animals. Rita was preceded in death by her grand-daughter, Brooke Pennington and her former husband, Frank Hignutt.

She is survived by her mother, Lillian Denman of Midland, two brothers, John (Anna) and Don (Lori) Denman, two sisters, Theresa (Kirk) Hepinstall and Cindy Denman Jones, her children, John of Lansing, Denise (Terry) Stevens of Woodland, and MaryJane (Aaron) Ring of Dallas, TX, nine grandchildren, Trevor Hignutt, Amber and Corey Pennington, Isaac Stevens, Lauren Glahn, Hazen, Wilder, Xander, and Draver Ring, and four great-grandchildren Brynn, Kayden, Natalia, and KrystiAna Pennington, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

PRIVATE SERVICES have been held.
