According to a news release from the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department, at just after 8 a.m. deputies responded to a report of a school bus crash on S. Scenic Drive, near W. Winston Road.

Upon arriving at the rural scene, deputies found the Montague school bus had crashed hard into a tree that was laying across Scenic Drive. Due to white out conditions caused by blowing snow, the driver was unable to see the tree in the road.

Although the bus was badly damaged, deputies said the driver and six passengers were not injured.

“We are thankful that they arrived safely and are enjoying the day with their teachers and friends,” Montague Area Public Schools Superintendent Nate Robrahn, wrote in an instant alert to parents. “Our staff members have talked personally with the parents of each of these students.
