Reeths-Puffer on 7-match win streak
 
MUSKEGON — Reeths-Puffer extended its winning streak to seven Wednesday night, defeating Muskegon and Orchard View in a home tri.

The Rockets topped Muskegon 48-27, and beat the Cardinals 45-25.

R-P wins Plainwell Tourney

PLAINWELL — The Reeths-Puffer Rockets lapped the field Saturday at the Pickett Memorial Tournament at Plainwell High School, taking all five matches to win the tournament.

The Rockets edged Northwest 38-34, but their other four victories were one-sided. R-P beat Coloma 48-24, defeated Battle Creek Lakeview’s B team 68-12, rocked St. Joseph 70-6 and beat the host Trojans 63-15.

Whitehall 2-0, Montague 0-2 at Montague Jamboree

MONTAGUE — The Whitehall Vikings continued the strong start to their season Wednesday night, sweeping two matches at the Montague Jamboree.

The Vikings beat Mason County Central 51-15, and most impressively, defeated defending state runner-up Shelby 46-19.

Montague struggled at home, though, taking two losses against Hart and Shelby.

Montague 6th at Hart Invite

HART — The Montague Wildcats placed sixth at last Saturday’s 12-team Hart Invitational, with several wrestlers distinguishing themselves.

Montague had two wrestlers reach the finals in their weight classes. Sawyer Smith won at 145 pounds beating Mason County Central’s Travess Smith by decision, while Alex VanVleet advanced to the finals at 160 before being pinned by Shawn Brew from Three Rivers.
