CLAYBANKS TWP. – The driver and six children escaped injury when a Montague Area Public Schools bus struck a tree laying across S. Scenic Drive Friday morning.

According to a news release from the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department, at just after 8 a.m. deputies responded to a report of a school bus crash on S. Scenic Drive, near W. Winston Road.

Upon arriving at the rural scene, deputies found the Montague school bus has crashed hard into a tree that was laying across Scenic Drive. Due to white out conditions caused by blowing snow, the driver was unable to see the tree in the road.

Although the bus was badly damaged, deputies said the driver and six passengers were not injured.

The report said the school district sent anther bus to the scene to transport students to school. The driver was not ticketed.
