SCOTTVILLE — It was a milestone night for four Whitehall wrestlers Wednesday night when all four picked up their 100th career individual victories at the Mason County Central Quad, helping the Vikes to easy wins over Fremont and Fruitport to go 2-0 at the quad.

Logan Irey, Logan Morningstar, Joe Sika and Steven Sika all picked up their 100th wins as the Vikes beat Fremont 56-15 and beat Fruitport 44-18.

Whitehall controlled both matches and had five team members win twice. Irey (119 pounds), Morningstar (heavyweight) and Joe Sika (189) won a pair of matches, as did Corey Robinson (103) and Reiley Brown (112).

Joe Sika was especially impressive against his Fruitport opponent, earning a pin in 23 seconds.

Montague drops 2 at Spring Lake

SPRING LAKE — The Montague wrestling team got its season started Wednesday night, losing two matches at the Spring Lake Quad against tough opposition.

The Wildcats dropped a 48-27 decision to Spring Lake and went down 72-4 to Allegan. Allegan advanced to the semifinals in Division 2 last season.

Alex VanVleet was 2-0 on the day at 145 pounds, the Wildcats’ lone unbeaten wrestler at the quad.
