This restoration project, at the city-owned park located on the north side of the White Lake Channel, will help mitigate erosion caused by foot and vehicle traffic with the re-vegetation of native grasses, wildflowers, trees and shrubs. Removal of invasive species, such as Spotted Knapweed and Black Locust, is also included.

There will be an establishment of designated dune trails with educational signage about dune ecology and personal responsibility/stewardship of coastal dunes. This project will give northern Muskegon County residents and its visitors a more protected and preserved pristine coastal dune area for recreational and aesthetical use of this important asset.

The Medbery Park Coastal Dune Restoration and Education Project is being made possible in part by a grant from the Environmental Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, which was created in 1961 to improve the quality of life for Muskegon County residents. As a publicly supported community endowment, the Foundation receives and manages contributions form thousands of community citizens and organizations committed to the future of Muskegon County.
