Mrs. Joan D. (Allen) Lawrence



Joan D. Lawrence of Montague, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2012 surrounded by her family after a sudden illness. She was born on December 15, 1932 in Montague, Michigan to the late Harold and Lois Allen, and spent her entire life in the White Lake area. She and her late husband, James “Jim” G. Lawrence, Sr. raised four daughters and a son together. Joan and Jim were high school sweethearts and were married for 61 years. Joan worked at Howmet Corporation for 42 years. Her interests included making afghans for family members and friends, caring for her pets and trips to the Ca$ino. Joan is survived by her five children, Jeri (Leo) Lane, Fort Wayne, IN, Judy Chase, Muskegon, Janice Lawrence, Vancouver, WA, James G. (Sue) Lawrence, Jr., Newport, KY and Jamie (Debbie Jackson) Lawrence, Camp Hill, PA; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Mary) Allen, Rex (Pat) Allen and David Allen. Along with her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeff Chase. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be given in Joan’s name to the Muskegon Humane Society & Animal Rescue, 2460 Marquette Ave., Muskegon, Michigan 49442, phone, (231)-773-8689.
