Fruitland Evangelical Covenant names ministry coordinator

Bobbi Jo Misch

Bobbi Jo Misch

Bobbie Jo Misch sees her job as the new coordinator of Ministries at Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church as one of overseeing, organizing and encouraging the volunteer leaders of the churchs ministries.

And, to take the pressure of leading the various church ministries off the shoulders of Senior Pastor Brian Kyle.

Misch was appointed to the newly established, part-time (20 hours a week) position in July, and hit the ground running at the church where she is a member.

The new coordinator says she also would like to help create a church family for worship, fellowship and ministry.

As part of that, Misch says she would like to organize a mission trip for the church.

The coordinator of ministries says she will also work toward the churchs goal of reaching out to family, friends, and our world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Recently, she organized a successful Trunk or Treat event in October which they served nearly 300 hot dogs. Misch says she organized it because the organizer for that event had broken her foot.

The current advent season project is funding a water well in Nairobi, Kenya. Misch says people at the church are encouraged to spend 10% less on Christmas gifts and donate that 10% to the Evangelical Covenant missions project.

A couple of other key ministries Misch will work on are the Supper 7s in which a group of people share a supper to help get acquainted and fellowship, and the Life Groups in which people meet in small groups to study and encourage each other.

Mischs position oversees: Childrens Ministry (nursery, Sunday School, Wednesday programs, summer children program and summer camp recruitment and funding; Youth Ministry (recruit, train and encourage youth leaders and facilitate curriculum); Adult & Family Ministry (Sunday morning and Wednesday programming, Life groups, parenting classes, family game nights, promote spiritual group at home, yearly spiritual growth event, and FCCs Christian growth plan); First Impressions Ministry (ushers, greeters, information desk staff); and Outreach Ministry (Easter emphasis, Blueberry Fun Festival, Fall Startup outreach, Supper &7s and followup of new attendees).

Misch has plenty of experience working with people of all ages.

In ministry, she was Coordinator of Ministries at Whitehall Evangelical Covenant Church for 12 years, was in charge of the Junior High Ministry there for 10 years, and was a Sunday School teacher.

She is Child Evangelism Fellowship trained, served on the Great Lakes Conference Board for Christian formation, was coordinator of Childrens Program for Great Lakes Annual Meeting, was president and treasurer of the Covenant Women Ministries, chaired Covenant Women Retreat at Portage Lake Bible Camp, was coordinator of mission trips for junior high and multi-generational groups to locations in the U.S., Mexico and Guatemala. She was also a short-term missionary to Zaire, Africa.

For 20 years she worked at Oceana High School in Rothbury. During that time she served as day care supervisor, teacher aid and academic counselor.

Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church is located at 4283 Weber Rd., Whitehall.
