Fishing Report

Deer hunters are in the woods, so fishing reports are down, but this is a good time to find smaller crowds on piers and rivers. Low water levels are making for some tough fishing conditions on rivers. Approach holes with caution so as not to spook fish. Whitefish are getting started at piers on Lake Michigan. The action should pick up right through the Thanksgiving weekend. See you out there.

White Lake - Anglers are targeting steelhead in the narrows, water levels are very low at mouth. For the latest info on White Lake call Johnson’s Great Outdoors at 231-893-6688.

Whitehall/Montague – Whitefish are in, try Fish-Whackers in 3/8 or 1/2 oz. Glow colors best. Some walleyes early and late but not usually when whitefish are present in big numbers, move further out towards the lake to target them.

Muskegon - Some steelhead early and late on spoons or spawn. Whitefish are showing up.

Muskegon River – Low water levels have made for tough navigation and fishing, but deeper holes are holding fish. Anglers are floating spawn or wax worms under a bobber, casting spoons or plugs and fly fishing.

Grand Haven – Whitefish and Menominee have been taken on single eggs or waxies during the day, jigging spoons at night.

Pentwater – Pier anglers were floating spawn but no steelhead were caught. Those surfcasting had better luck with spawn or small orange spoons.

Hamlin Lake – Walleyes slow, few anglers out. For up to date Hamlin information call Hamlin Grocery at 231-843-2058.

Ludington – Steelhead were caught in the surf and off the piers in the early morning or late evening.

Pere Marquette River – Low water levels continue to challenge steelhead anglers. Fish are being caught in the deeper holes. Most are drifting spawn or flies.
