The first “green street” in the State of Michigan, featuring a natural integrated stormwater management system was opened for traffic Monday morning, Nov. 5. The work was done during reconstruction of six blocks of Lake Street in Whitehall. Cutting the ribbon for the federally-funded project was from left, State Sen. Goeff Hansen, Chris Thompson of Thompson Brothers, the general contractor, Jason Washler, project engineer from Prein & Newhof, Amy Heisser, Human Resources director for Alcoa Howmet in Whitehall, Whitehall Mayor Emery Hatch and Brian Armstrong, Whitehall Department of Public Works director and zoning administrator. |
