It was known before the election that Blue Lake Townships board would be a lot different than it had been for years.
Don Studaven didnt file for the position of supervisor, which he had held for several years. Melonie Arbogast, treasurer, filed for the position of supervisor as a Democrat as well as Republican Walter Udell, the zoning administrator. Melonie Arbogast won with 591 votes over Udells 446.
Clerk Fred Arbogast Sr. didnt file for any office which left his seat open. Vicki Longnecker, Republican, and Lisa Knop, Democrat, competed in the general election for the seat with Knop receiving 509 votes over Longneckers 490. With Melonie Arbogast running for the position of supervisor, her seat of treasurer was open. Deborah Therrian ran unopposed as a Republican and received 688 votes.
Also changing things up were the trustee positions in Blue Lake Township. Scott Haan, current trustee, did not receive enough votes to be in the general election so it was already known that that seat would go to a newcomer. Current trustee Lyle Monette, Republican, filed, as well as Republican Todd Conzemius, Democrat James Dykema and Democrat Don Studaven. Monette and Studaven came out on top, with the other two candidates not far behind.
