Mr. Robert H. "Bob" Strahl

Robert H. “Bob” Strahl, of Montague, passed into the Lord’s arms on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012. He was born in Muskegon on Jan. 21, 1938 to Kenneth and Dorothy Strahl.

Bob attended a one room country school (Cartwright) across from the family farm. He graduated from Montague High School in 1956. He then went to work at E.I. DuPont in Montague as an electrical and maintenance supervisor until his retirement.

Bob enjoyed farming and sharing his fresh asparagus and rhubarb with family and friends. He also looked forward every year to deer camp. Bob was an avid sports fan - NASCAR, U of M football and the Detroit Tigers - and at one time he played baseball.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rob, and his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Strahl.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Robin (Lee) DeHoff; grandsons, Daniel and Dustin DeHoff; great-grandson, Hunter DeHoff; sisters, Shirley (Ed) Butzer, Marlene (Robert) Lohman; brother, Kenneth “Lee” (Kathy) Strahl and his beloved pets.

Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 12, 10 a.m., at Rothbury Community Church. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Eagles Cemetery. Memorials to either L.A.S.S.I. (Local Animal Shelter Support, Inc) P.O. Box 160, Pentwater, MI 49449 or Oceana Animal Friends, P.O. Box 178, also in Pentwater, are appreciated. You may get directions or leave a message for the family at www.harrisfhome.com. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home in Shelby.
