The Zombie Apocalypse has infected Montague

Zombies will invade Montague on Sunday, and they’re looking to scare anyone and everyone they can.

The First Annual Zombie Invasion will be held at the World’s Largest Weathervane in Montague.

Started by Sarah Stowe and Amanda Rudat, the event was created to bring people in the community together.

“We see events in other areas, but we always have to drive to do it,” Stowe said. They came together and decided to start an event in the White Lake Area.

The two said they knew plenty of people who would be willing to participate and started a Facebook group to let people know. Soon, the event grew by their friends telling others.

Anyone is invited to attend the event, even children - so bring along the little zombies as well. Gift certificates from Papa’s Pizza (Stowe’s parents own the restaurant) will be given to the zombies who look the most gruesome, most creative and maybe best kids costume.

“It’s just a time to hang out, wander around and be creepy,” Rudat said.

The group will congregate and compare wounds and blood seepage while watching the unaffected drive by. They will also be wandering the area. The event will be held from 6-8:30 p.m.

As far as the future of the apocalypse, both women hope that if they get enough participation this year, they can continue the event in the future.

“If it takes off, we’re all for doing it every year,” Stowe said. “It’s a way to have fun without spending any money.”
