“Disney” is the theme for the 2012 Whitehall High School Homecoming festivities, Oct. 1-6.

Each class at the high school will have a theme for hall decorating for the week - Freshmen “Tarzan”, Sophomores - “Lion King,” Juniors - “Finding Nemo,” and Seniors “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Among the Spirit Week competitions will be dress up days. The daily themes are: Monday - Mismatch Day, Tuesday - Twin Day, Wednesday - Western Day, Thursday - Disney Day, and Friday - WHS Spirit Day (wear your colors): Freshmen - black, Sophomores - red, Juniors - white, and Seniors - black, red and white. Points are kept for the number of classmates wearing the appropriate colors.

A homecoming parade will be held Friday, Oct. 5, 5:30 p.m. Grand Marshalls Ken and Kim Jahn will lead the parade along its traditional route in downtown Whitehall. Ken Jahn is a former Whitehall High School teacher and coach who retired in June. The homecoming game against Hart will begin at 7 p.m. At halftime will be the announcement of the homecoming court and crowning of the king and queen.

The homecoming dance will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, 8:30-11:30 p.m., in the Whitehall High School “Viking Center.”

The homecoming court members are:

Senior Queen Candidates: Hope Rillema, Hannah Potter, Hannah Zwemer, Ashley Ward and Maryssa Endres.

Senior King Candidates: Jared Christensen, Isaac Love, Joe Sika, Steven Sika, Joe VanLoon.

Junior Class Representatives: Alison Bourdon and Luke Westrate.
