Whitehall notched two more victories this week, defeating West Michigan Conference rival Montague 7-1 Tuesday afternoon and blanking Big Rapids 5-0 in a nonconference game Thursday.

The Vikings-Wildcats matchup was tight for much of the first half. Whitehall scored first on a Ray Copley goal before Emmit Mikkelson and Luke VanBoxel traded goals within 45 seconds of one another late in the first half to make the score 2-1. However, Chris Saunders scored towards the end of the first half and two Vikings’ goals in the opening moments of the second half put things away for the Vikings, who remain unbeaten in league play.

The Reeths-Puffer Rockets extended their winning streak to five this week with three strong performances in victories.

Reeths-Puffer opened its week with a 3-1 win over Western Michigan Christian Saturday afternoon. The Rockets scored all their goals in the first half, two of them by Austin Blaski. Brandon Gillikin added a penalty-shot goal early on to give the Rockets a lead the Warriors couldn’t match.

Troy Gilmore had an impressive performance in net for Reeths-Puffer, posting six saves.

The Rockets then moved on to Zeeland East. Reeths-Puffer won a close game over the Chix, 2-0, scoring twice in the second half to remain unbeaten in O-K Black Conference play. Alec Mavis and Austin Blaski posted a goal each for the victorious Rockets.
