Veteran's Tribute is Wednesday

A National Executive Committeeman of the Sons of the American Legion will be the guest speaker at this year’s Veteran’s Day Tribute on Wednesday (Nov. 11) at the Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69 at 803 E. Colby, Whitehall.

The tribute program, organized by Post 69’s Auxiliary, begins at 10:30 a.m., with a 21-gun salute and taps at 11 a.m. in honor of fallen soldiers.

Ronald R. Wyatt is a National Executive Committeeman for the Michigan Detachment of the Sons of the American Legion. He is a life member of Stevensville Squadron 568.

Wyatt, a Stevensville, Michigan resident, was eligible to join the Sons of the American Legion because his grandfather, Homer K. Needles served in the U.S. Army in World War I and World War II.

In his 16 years involvement with the American Legion, Wyatt has held several offices at different levels. Wyatt is currently Squadron Commander, 4th District Judge Advocate, National Executive Committeeman and chairman for Homeland Security for the detachment.

The speaker is a past commander of the dispachment (2005-2006). Wyatt owns Wyatt Construction, and is the oldest of 10 children.

“It is an honor to be able to serve our veterans, our country and our youth,” he said.
