LAKEWOOD CLUB - The 7th annual Fox Lake Festival will offer games, activities and a beer tent with live entertainment and food this Friday and Saturday (July 31 and Aug. 1).
The festival is centered at Fox Lake Memorial Park in the Village of Lakewood Club. The park is located on Parkway.
To get to the park from US 31, take the White Lake Drive exit (Exit 126), and turn east on White Lake Drive. Drive approximately 1 1/2 miles to Parkway and turn right (south) until you reach the park.
The festival is offering a 12-team softball tournament Friday evening, and continuing into Saturday.
There will also be activities on Saturday, including a euchre tournament at noon with registration at 11:30 a.m., a Washer Toss and a Chicken Drop.
In addition to contests, there will be raffles for prizes and 50/50 draw.
Entertainment in the beer tent begins Friday night with Blue Rooster Band (5-7 p.m.) and Band of Outlaws (8 p.m.-12 a.m.).
On Saturday, the music begins at 2 p.m. with Lou Thumser (2-4 p.m.), Pegasus (4-7 p.m.) and Red Eye (8 p.m.-12 a.m.).
A picture ID will be required for admission in the beer tent, and those admitted will be wristbanded.
The festival is a community fundraiser sponsored by the Fox Lake Fest Committee, a non-profit organization. Proceeds from the festival are used to improvements to the lake and park.
In the first six years, nearly $30,000 has been raised. Of that, $14,000 went toward funding for studies on water quality and weed control in Fox Lake. The remaining funds have gone toward providing an ice rink, a scoreboard for the ball field, and money toward the park development project.
This year’s projects will include stocking the lake with yellow perch and bluegills, along with developing a soccer and recreation area at the park.
